I've noticed a significant deterioration in the microphone quality between the Galaxy S23 and S24 as demonstrated in the below video. Both phones are running the same, up to date version of Samsung's voice recorder app.
It's really disappointing to see, and I may have to return the phone as I rely on the voice recorder on a daily basis.

The issue may be related to the amount of 'gain' that the microphones can adjust to, I wonder.

Hi @JFarrer
I've listened to your recordings and I've got to say I actually don't mind either, however I submit everyone's hearing is different.
I'm certainly no audiophile in any sense of the word.
I wish you well with whatever decision you decide to make.
If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care. 😎

I have to agree with you @BandOfBrothers . I cannot hear any significant difference. The S24 seems louder.
Of course, audio tests are not the best for this sort of media. There are too many variables. Starting from the quality of the speakers of the device we are using, the quality of the UTube streaming, etc.
Listening to both devices might be a better way of appreciating their differences. I do not think the utube video gives a realistic comparison.

I've been looking for topics that are discussing the same issues I'm having with my S24+
I agree that everyone's ears pick sound up differently, however, I do hear a significant difference and friends and family agree that the audio, is distorted like @JFarrer demonstrated. Even compared to my 3 and a half year old S20, it sounds poor when comparing Microphone recordings.
I've been through all the troubleshooting suggestions from Samsung and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
The quality differs between apps that use the microphone so I would assume it's software not hardware, but as there's no solution from Samsung, they've offered a replacement.

Whoever doesn't hear the terrible sound of the S24 must not have headphones, or mayhaps ears.
The S24 recording is clipping, ringing and distorted.
I agree that maybe it is simply a question of tweaking the default gain.
