Hello Samsung? Can't you hear everyone complaining about the S24 not playing notification sounds? Yeah yeah yeah do this and then do that and then it's guaranteed to work for a few days. Sure miss my old phone that I traded in.

I remember the posts being created due to the actual process to turn on the setting to allow one's own notification @Jackized , however I'm not aware of a mass issue with tones not holding.

Maybe the phone is not compatible properly with the type of file the tone is created by.

Try downloading a tone via zedge.com and use that to see how things go.

If you still face issues then send your feedback via your Samsung Members App.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate to ask.  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

No Samsung this did not solve the problem. Only you can solve the problem with an update. The Joe user will have ideas but that's all they are is ideas that'll work for a couple days and then back to the same old same old wishing you would never bought the phone. Going on 4 months now with the same problem on my phone and the wife's. Yeah believe it or not I was dumb enough to buy two of them.

I recently bought the S24 and now I cannot assign notification sounds to specific apps. I want to differentiate notifications by sound and this phone doesn't seem to allow for this.  I did toggle to allow the advanced notification setting for "Manage notification categories for each app" but that didn't fix the problem.  When I click on the App and then Notifications, it just allows for sound to be on or Silent. No option to customize the app's ringtone. What happened to this ability?

@Jackized: If you have enabled the 'Manage notifications categories for each app' feature, then please head to Settings > Notifications > App notifications > Tap on an app > Scroll to the bottom of the screen > Notification categories > Select the relevant category > Sound, then assign your preferred notification sound from here. I hope this helps.

Been there done that. It's easy to get it to work for one day, Just do a soft reset. Like I said it is a Samsung problem and it's not a big enough problem for them to bother with. My S23 does not have this problem.

Horrible notification volume quality. For such high end phone this is embarrassing. The same notification on Note 10 (my previous phone) and on S24 cannot be compared (it's at least twice lower on max volume 😞 )

To help with the sound go into Settings, Modes and Routines, Create a Routine. In IF select Message received. Done. In THEN select EFFECTS, Beep once. Now when you get a message your phone will Beep once. Do the same thing for NOTIFICATION received. Notifications you have to select an App or two.

I switched to the S24 from a Pixel 7 and regret it because of notification sounds issues. My problem happens to be that it's difficult to differentiate notification sounds, such as having one tone for text messages and another for email. Even after allowing Samsung online support take over my phone TWICE, they couldn't get it to work. I've followed all the online instructions, including in this forum, and still it doesn't work right. It even switched back to a previous tone for texts after the online person set it to something else. So, this will be my very last Samsung phone, I hate to say, after only owning it for six weeks.

My particular issue is that my S24 just stops making notification sounds - so since mid-afternoon today all I get are vibrations.  They were working, and now they're not.  All sounds are on, volume is up, if I click on them thru the various apps they play, but if I get a message/email or other alert, I just get the vibrations.  This happens at some point most days.  I've had the phone for 2 weeks.  There is no rhyme or reason, the apps are all set up correctly.  Mostly it's message tones as I have different alerts for different people/groups.  The settings mentioned in this thread are also set correctly.  Irritating more than anything.  I shouldn't have to keep rebooting the phone to make the sounds work but currently that's what I have to do (and it is set to reboot every day anyway).  Would be interested in a resolution.
