Why doesn't it go to 1 Hz as advertised? S24 Ultra here, it is the same as on the S22 Ultra.

Nope!
The pixel 8 goes down to 1 Hz so it's Samsung.
Google it!

You are missing the point, I think. All we are saying here is that Samsung does not go to 1Hz. We are not discussing if other brands are capable.

I'm not missing any point!
Samsung is advertising the phone with 1 - 120 Hz variable refresh rate, but it goes only as low as 24 Hz.
The link that this gentlemen linked is old and suggest that this is a Android limitation, but its's not.
So Samsung is to blame, cause the hardware and software is able to go down to 1 Hz.

I found the link to your image - this is way more handy than putting up an image that can be edited. Do link to such information in the future - that is the correct way.

From that its is clear that Samsung's marketing team is messing things up. Hope some of the big phone sites takes this up with them, as that is clearly false-advertising.

"Supposedly" this is an issue with the API misreporting the refresh rate. But I am still not convinced.
24-02-2024 12:47 PM
"Supposedly" claimed by the Samsung support?
Other phones have no issues with the API.
So either Samsung screwed up some "custom patches" or Samsung is lying again.

For example in Device Info HW app , the panel mode is listed as low as 10Hz, which is lower than what the dev options refresh rate is giving as its lowest point - 24Hz. This is when the display is on adaptive. If I switch to standard, however, the only modes I get reported are all at 60Hz! Still the display goes down to 24Hz per the refresh rate overlay.
Do you see my point here?
24-02-2024 02:19 PM
Yes, Sir... but you said it's the API which means Android.
If it would be Android API it would affect all brands. Sounds logic? So it's a Samsung "thing".
Reference picture.

You are jumping to conclusions, assuming Samsung did not touch the OS. And I am sure they did - it is not the vanilla one. The point is that the same app reports incorrect info when I change the refresh rate of the display through the settings app. So something on the OS level is providing incorrect information, and that is probably some api that Samsung messed up. That, of course, is my assumption, which may be also incorrect until we have an official Samsung statement. Till then, however, I am more inclined to believe the display actually has 1Hz (on the lock screen, AOD or looking at a pic in the gallery), than the opposite you are claiming.
