So.. as the title says.. who will be returning a phone from the new S24 line-up because of issues related to the screen?Less saturated, grainy screen etc.
Please comment bellow, thank you!
I still have until the 9th of Feb to decide.. I am still on the fence with this one! And it looks more and more like the Vivid mode, not beeing as saturated as on the older phones, is meant to be like this and there will be no fix for it.

I think I'll be returning mine because the display is grainy and I don't believe it can be fixed via a software update.

coz you not really know a difference between old model and new one. If you buying phone which should give you upgrade from last gen then you will be not satisfied. But if just buying phone and you go from worst model than you will notice nothing. How is possible that 2600 nits s24u is darker than s23u with 1700 nits, we have upgrade every year and I do it every year and always is noticeable up, this year is downgrade.

Just watched 8k Peru on YouTube side by side with my S21U vs S24U and the colors/contrast/imagine detail in the background such as clouds, trees, water, etc noticeably clearer on S21U. Watched it with 3 other friends who unanimously agreed. Color and contrast is muted on S24. You are correct in that sometimes it is more or less noticeable, but almost 100% noticeable with ALL content. Another month of user testing and this will be confirmed.
I honestly did not want this to be the case but it is absolutely true that S24U screen is a downgrade from last 3 years of phones at minimum. Probably has at least something to do with the Corning glass as glossy TVs typically offer more vibrant colors and it's makes sense due to the simple physics of light refraction and polarization that only 100 clear glass would give the best color. Additives like extra coatings will cause more refraction and possible polarization, limiting light pass through. It's really only a matter of how much these things comprimise the final image of the screen. This is likely why Samsung has said little to nothing about this issue because it is not really fixable.
A software update could "boost" vivid colors by increasing contrast and pushing the screen harder much like turning up the OLED light on your TV but this would be at a cost of battery life and device heat and will increase the rate of screen failures. Also, such an adjustment would only somewhat fix this issue as again the refraction and polarization effect cannot be stopped. Without independently testing the new Corning glass for these parameters then it is hard to know exactly how much these play a role. One would assume that if it was an easy fix then samsung would have already released a quick update to resolve the issue.
Would be nice to hear samsung fully address this issue and put the discussion to bed.

After another contradicting statement from Samsung Spain claiming the display is just right and supposed to look identical in both modes.
Yes I will be returning my S24 ultra. This is from someone that has owned Samsung phones for years, have a Samsung washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, earbuds, and watches!!
The unwillingness for anybody high enough inside Samsung to put out a definitive answer on such a major issue was the last straw!!
Samsung completely ignores its customers for a couple weeks then the media puts out some bad press and immediately we hear from Samsung that they are aware of it and it is a simple update. Now Samsung Spain completely contradicts be update and says no we made the vivid and natural mode look identical to be easier on your eyes! Seriously? Why would they leave the vivid mode if it didn't look vivid? I know they didn't say it in those words but claiming that the display is not supposed to change from vivid to normal or vice versa is assuming the end user is an ***** and has no clue. Give me a break!!
Samsung attempting their loyal customers to ignore their lying eyes!
No it's not broken It's supposed to look that way!! We made our most technologically advanced display in a cell phone ever and decided to eliminate a standard feature that we've always had! It's much easier on your eyes We did it for you! I'm a big boy if I wanted the less vibrant display I'm fully capable of switching it normal I didn't need and I didn't ask Samsung to make that decision for me!
Did Samsung Spain just let the cat out of the bag that there is an actual display problem and it is not software? We know that people's displays are suddenly freaking out and permanently having a white and green line across them!
Seriously this chat censors the word 1d10t? WTH!!!
