Good point: apple didn't promise future updates for iphone 11 but they are still providing it along with later models. Samsung promised Android still not providing any information update or the update itself.

Then I think it's a wise one. If you can exploit those people who think upgrading a phone based on a skin update, that's a brilliant idea.

Thanks for bringing in this perspective. Wish I had known this earlier. 😕

Great point. Just wondering, who all did the beta testing for s25 ultra an unreleased phone. This might have been a smaller lot. If the bugs were fixed for s25, these should have been fixed sooner for s24u given the large user base. OR they took the results of s24 beta testing and implemented for s25 release. Either ways s24u users are loosing

This is not based upon fact, but I believe that Google release Android to all manufacturers as a vanilla version, and then each phone manufacturers add their own 'skin' or 'UI'... whichever you want to call it.

So some manufacturers with less portfolio of phones to support, and a less feature packed UI version (i.e. less AI... less tuning and less additions) are able to perform their own testing sooner... and easier... than some others.

Samsung have added a lot of new functions to 15... you have seen the list of AI, user interface changes and other items. These need to be tested and made robust to all the phones portfolio in some way.

Beta testing is carried out in the most recent older flagship s24 range, but also needs testing internally with folds, flips, s23, s22 etc.

If all of these are not tested carefully then there is risk of breaking an older generation... I.e. ( as an example a boot loop software issue ).

So whilst I dont disagree that samsung are very 'late to the party' here... I am trying to bring some reasoning to the table.

What would consumers prefer ? An earlier release with potential to break their phone software and functions ? Or wait another month or two for Samsung to carry out their 'due diligence' and to ensure their update doesnt break anything.

I think samsung are taking rhe right approach, but clearly many others are disgruntled by this.

Just to finish off... I fully understand why everyone is feeling a bit down about this... I too would be (if I was still sitting on my S23 ultra and waiting).

I do hope they find some progress on the matter soon !

I guess they will use this data for future phones and still forget about older users.

Consumers would prefer timely updates or atleast info updates regarding the updates. Why should consumers always understand and manage their expectations. Why can't Samsung improve beta testing for older flagships just like they did for s25 as suggested by you. What have they been ***** since November. Say what you have to say but I still believe Samsung should up their game.
