The update is terrible. My lovely Samsung now looks like an iPhone. If I wanted the simple unsophisticated approach used by Apple, I would've just bought an iPhone.
On the lockscreen the notifications are now much larger and in your face.
Previously on the home screen there was an awesome seamless ability where if you swiped down you'd get notifications, and a second swipe within that would pull down further and you'd see things like brightness and wifi connection. Now, these are two separate swipes like on the iPhone, a really dumbed down approach.
On the apps page, the search tab is at the bottom, like on the iPhone which is super annoying and un-intuitive. So when you click on search at the bottom of the screen the recently used apps appear at the top of the screen, that makes no sense.
Changing the Samsung mail app to a silly white box with the @ sign, what is this, 2003?
I just don't understand how this update made it through any reviews and people thought, yes this is a good idea. People buy Samsung because firstly (I hope) they just prefer what Samsung has to offer, but secondly, the fact that it's not restrictive and over simplified like an iPhone. But for some reason, we're now going down that route. Is a little more revenue from iPhone users worth potentially losing long-time Samsung customers?

I totally agree. I recently made this update and the UI is totally destroyed. The large gap between the icons on the homescreen and the favourite icons on the bottom underneath is such a waste of space!! and the padding around the widgets make it impossible to put them in the very corner, as I had them before... Great, this way I cannot use my favourite Themes and wallpapers anymore! Ridiculous, this is not the first time that some changes are impossible to revert... don't ever do this to your users ever again!!! honestly, it's been 10 yrs I've been using Samsung phones, but this time I am seriously considering to switch to and iPhone soon

I also hate how the top and bottom bars are locked by default and critical fields and buttons are irretrievably blocked in pages and apps. I found an add-on to unlock the bottom bar which is annoying but the top bar appears to have no solution. I used to swipe down to get both and could us the entire screen. UI 7 is *****!

Given the number of changes they rammed down our throats with this,it should have come with a manual. They already irretrievably screwed up the email app with those humongous and unnecessary buttons for which I have found no solution. I was quite happy with the basic Android look and feel and these changes need to be optional.
