I have a brand-new S24 Ultra and cannot get the notification sounds to work for love nor money. I’ve done everything I can think of in apps, notifications etc and have also done a reset, but still nothing.

The apps I mainly use sound alerts for are Outlook, Teams and Messenger.  I’d be really grateful for any suggestions - thanks in advance.

I put this on another post. I hope it helps 🙂

Hey everyone, I was wrecking my brain trying to change my Message sound and the sound to some of the apps I use. I see some of you are still having trouble and someone may have already said this and I missed it. However, I did figure out how to change my text message notification sound.

If you are using the message app that has the oval white with the blue bubble with the tail, you will do the following.

Go to Settings>Apps>Messages>Notifications>Notification Categories>Incoming Messages>Sound

If you have the app with the bubble and 3 dots

Go to Settings>Apps>Messages>Notifications>Notification Categories>General Notifications>Sound

That's how you change the notification sound for you text messages.

You have to go to individual apps it seems like and click notification categories and just tap on each one to see which one will allow you to change the sound. For example, the one for my GMAIL, under notification categories, I have to select Other Notifications.

I hope this helped

Hopefully this helps someone! Noticed mine did the same - no notification sounds AT ALL from the system sound, Google Messages, or even phone call ring. I had been using ear buds so I went into Bluetooth and unpaired the ear buds and al is well! Might seem too simple or duh to some, but if this helps someone since we're all don't live and breathe tech.

Sitting on the couch clicking every category, this has been annoying for 2 weeks.

Go to settings, notifications, advanced, then toggle on "manage notification categories for each app"

Any luck? I switched over from s22 which had no issues,  the s24 was working fine with all apps push notifications,  then stopped. I get email and texts, but no youtube or x.  I checked settings 500 times. Ugh so annoying,  any help would be worth millions lol

I did a hard reset and started from scratch but that didn't even help. What did help was doing a reset all settings.

So, I've tried everything. It is a Samsung issue. This started on my S23 Ultra. When I upgraded to the S24 Ultra still never get any FB notifications. I have a spare phone that is not Samsung but also runs android and I get notifications for FB just fine. I can also log in to a friend's iPhone and get notifications just fine. This is strictly a Samsung issue, and I can't get any FB notifications on any SAMSUNG phone. Has anyone found a fix?

First of all, under settings, go to notifications. Then select advance settings and scroll all the way to the bottom and switch on manage notification categories for each app!! This will allow you to then customise each sound on each and every app.

  • Next, go to the app in question, press and hold on that app, and hit the small info icon in the top right corner. Once opened, tap on notifications, then scroll to the bottom and tap notification categories. From here, tap on each notification category and see which ones are on silent? They should be labelled accordingly, so it shouldn't be hard to find ie. Friend requests , messages , comments , birthdays, etc. Hope this helps. Samsung phones can be very complex and hide a lot of menus within the menu's

Another thing to do which I do is turn of adaptive battery? And also the app in question set to unrestricted. You will finds these under the battery settings when you press and hold the app and select the info icon as explained above.

In my case, turns out the problem was hardware. The bottom speaker, responsible for notification sounds died on me after 2 days. Had a whole back and forth with Samsung but finally got my phone replaced by a new one.

You can test you hardware by dialing *#0*#
