In the UK and EU, GDPR has resulted in call recording functionality being removed.

There are also legalities about being a Data Controller (GDPR) and also (whilst not technically a legal requirement) advising the person or company you are calling that the call is being recorded. Many companies may choose to terminate the call if it is being recorded via unregulated methods.
It can be a legal minefield and one which is likely to get to the Courts in the coming years.
