On my S25 Ultra, I still have the October 2024 update. Thanks for the heads-up, though.😊

Not sure how long it'll stay on October update. I guess it's something that google needs to fix. My S23 is on the latest update and other Galaxy devices.

On reddit, other S25 users are complaining about the same thing. If i can remember, it was the same for S24 series last year before google fixed it.

Android has always had a problem of relying on phone manufacturers for updates. Security issue is found? Gotta wait for generic phone company 7 to spend months releasing an update. Want to add a new feature to every android phone? Need to convince 60 different phone companies to add it and spend money developing it.

Google thought this wasn't a good idea. Welcome to the google play system update.

This is a second update system where google themselves can update core components of phones. Remember the covid tracker system and the recent anti theft system? Those were both delivered to every single android device via a google play system update. Every phone running android 10 or newer (even phones the phone company has stopped supporting) will get these updates.

Why is the s25 series still on october? The phone manufacturer is allowed to pause updates if they notice them causing issues or something.

It's just a guess but Samsung recently removed the original google settings page for anti theft and created their own page for it. I have a feeling letting the newer google updates come through would break their custom settings page.

That's a shame, because customers pay Google subscriptions and such to be able to just use Googe services, and Google can't even give the updates on time in return.
