I'm thinking maybe a network signal issue 🤔
Also Does this happen with a certain contact or all.
As a troubleshooting step you can reset the network settings in General Management then Reset.

Does sound like a network signal issue however it wouldn't harm to run the phone's diagnostic tool found in your Samsung Members App and to consider resetting the network connection as suggested before @Red327
If you can also test your sim card in another phone and then see what happens.
