How to change notification sound on Samsung stock messaging app

Hi,

I want to change the notification sound when I receive messages, but the only thing I am able to do is change the default notification sound for all notifications on the device if going into the Settings app. So my question is, is it possible to change just the notification sound for the messages app, not Google messages. Many thanks for any help!

Try under notifications settings within WhatsApp

Yes as long as you go into Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings and toggle on the 'Manage notification settings for each app @Chris080

I have the manage notifications for each app enabled, but when I go to the app notification it doesn't give me the option to change the sound

@HardcoreMidget: From the screen above (Settings > Apps > Messages > Notifications), click on 'Notification categories', click on a category e.g. New messages, then tap on 'Sound' to view and assign your bespoke notification sound.

I found this today and it helped me change the notification sound on my S24 ultra. My wife has the S24+ and on her phone the "notification categories " option does not exist, the only options are what is seen in the picture. Do you how to chang it on the S24+?

I'm having the same issue with my S23FE Samsung Messages version 15.1.20.27. I'm used to this app from my old phone and really like several features of it, but I need a separate tone for new texts for it to really be useful. The screen shot shared is the same UI I have with "lock screen" where "categories " should be...RELP!!!

Search for "manage notification categories for each app" and make sure that is on. And then go to messenger and go to notification categories, and then click on incoming messages. It is kinda hidden under multiple options but with other apps you can set different notification sounds for each "event".
