Google Assistant problem, help? 🙏

Hi everyone, I recently got a s24 ultra and when my screen is locked and off and I press the headphones button to talk to the assistant the screen turns on and a pop up with the assistant comes up at the bottom. It's very inconvenient, especially that I use the assistant when I'm walking or at the gym (when the phone is in my pocket) and I don't want to turn the screen on, with my other phone I could talk to it with the screen off and also the results were better (this pop up tries to search everything online or asks me to unlock my phone for everything). Ive literally tried everything and can't find a solution, wondering what happens to other people who has a s24 phone? Thanks

Yes, and it's the same. Do your headphones switch the screen on when pressing the button? What phone do you have? Thanks for answering

They are, trust me, it's a mistery but it's driving me insane, because I was used to use the assistant without it turning the screen on and appearing at the bottom. I tried everything you can imagine, the Samsung customer expert also tried for 2 hours 😕 the only difference with my galaxy A72 is that on the galaxy a72 under Devices on assistant I would see the headphone and not now, but no way to add them, as on the A72 I would get a notification to configure them. I reached out to Samsung on here and they told me it's suppose to work like this (switching the screen on) but I know it's not

It's like the headphones button triggered this "app" because its the only way I can reproduce that pop up at the bottom of the screen. I tried disabling that app which and made no difference... I haven't been able to enjoy my new phone haha I've spent days trying to make it work like it should.

Just now, my screen was black, I spoke saying - Hey, Google, and the Google Assistant came to life.

I never touched the phone, just spoke to it.

@Danielmdq: @davehorne has raised an interesting point. If you head to the Google app > Tap your profile in the top right > Settings > Google Assistant > Hey Google & Voice Match > Hey Google > On > Back > Lock screen > Assistant responses on lock screen, are you able to activate the Assistant on the Lock screen without waking the device?
