Fingerprint recognition

Is anyone having issues with their fingerprint recognition? It is playing up several times. I have erased and re added my finger print, still same issues. It neede multiple tries to allow access. Also phone just froze and jumped into editing settings

Yeah, on both my phones, Google doesn't take my fingerprint but other apps do, so I cannot fully blame it on the phone itself, I think Google is messed up.

Hi Dany4l, I think there may be the problem with the fingerprint reader itself. Have you got a screen protector on? Because if it has, the screen protector can sometimes mess with optical fingerprint readers. Or the fingerprint reader could just be messed up. Im not really sure because there is a lot of reasons this could happen.

You maybe are correct, however, the all S24 phone series, except the S24Fe feature ultrasonic fingerprint reader whilst the S24Fe features optical fingerprint reader.

Like mentioned do you have any screen protector on your phone?

Any damage on the screen itself? Like deep scratches?

Have you tried to wipe cache partition? If not :
Plug your phone to TV, PC, other phone etc.
Turn off your phone
Press and hold volume up and power buttons simultaneously
When samsung logo appears release the power button and keep holding volume up button until recovery mode appears
Wirh volume down button navigate to "Wipe cache partition" and press power button.

Try safe mode to see if there's any other 3rd party apps interrupted your device :

Run diagnostics on the members app and see what it tells you.

If you have Samsung’s experience shop near by bring it to them and get it checked.

I think its the phone as well if i am being honest. As I said its when I try unlocking my phone from the lock screen. Very frustrating as now it is working fine, sometimes it decides to play up

Nope, screen protecter is in optimum condition, no cracks, dents. And even if there was I would replace it as I hate having damaged protectors as It really bugs me!

Yes I have indeed a protector and it is in good condition, no cracks.

I have several times done wipe cache partion for previous issues due to freezing etc

If you run phone diagnostics from the Support Page does the fingerprint reader work?

The screen protector doesn't need to be damaged. It could just mess with the optical sensor because its adding extra distance or it would make it blurry
