Do not disturb mode is counterintuitive

I set up a dnd routine specifically for snapchat to block the 500 notifications it sends when I receive a 3 or 5 min long video or multiple reactions & such.

To do so I allowed all calls, allowed notifications from multiple different apps & set the time frame.

This achieved nothing. Snapchat notifications still came through.

I did some research & found that for some unreasonable reason I need to change the phone call setting to make the app notifications stop.

There are 2 completely separate things, why do I need to block some phone calls to get the notifications for apps to be blocked? How does that make any sense?

Beyond that, after following the arbitrary counterintuitive rule to actually block snapchat notifications NOTIFICATIONS, i find that when I actually do open Snapchat all audio has now been blocked as well.

Why would blocking notifications also mute the app while opened? Again this is counterintuitive & makes zero sense.

So my question is how to I block snapchat notifications & only the notifications from snapchat between certain hours on certain days while still allowing ALL phone calls & the ALL the rest of my apps to send notifications without at the same time unintentionally muting snapchat while it's open? Be
