How can I upload custom notification sounds on my S24? The '+' isn't on the notification menu like it is on the ringtone menu anymore. Where is it?

After you select Notifications under App Info, scroll all the way down to the bottom for Notification categories. (I'm also in Canada, and it doesn't make a difference, at least for this...)

Yea I'm having the same issue. For a phone that can do all these things how can it not do the simplist thing. I need to know the difference between a text and a email by the ringtone. They just want to make you look at your phone as much as possible.

Plan2Wander did you ever figure this out? Changing your notification sounds? You are right there is no + sign to add your own sounds from your downloads. It's very frustrating. I'm searching this thread and have done every step given and still I can't change it unless I use one of the pre-installed sounds that the phone comes with. I was able to change my ringtone just fine for incoming calls, to one that I selected and d/led on my phone. It makes no sense that we can't change any other app notification sounds other than the ***** that they make us choose from.

Wasnt easy but finally figured it out on my Galaxy S24 Ultra. First make sure your allowed to set individuals app sounds.

  • Settings
  • Notifications
  • Advanced Notifications
  • Manage Notifications categories for each app > toggle ON

After that, turn the custom sounds on by going into:

  • Settings
  • Apps
  • Find your specific app and click it
  • Click Notifications
  • Notification categories
  • Under "other" make sure the app is toggled on and click it
  • Click "Sound" and scroll to the customized tone

It was ridiculous to burry this so far in the menus but this did the trick. Hope that helps!!

It's right, but it doesn't allow to add a new (downloaded) sound

Thanks for this. This was default behavior on UI 5.X.  Updating apparently made it an option and turned it off?  Dumb.

One more thing you may know:  If an app has a default sound, and you change it to a custom sound using per-app settings, it works.  But how can you get back to the app provided sound if you want that?  You can select a different sound, but there's no way to unselect a sound, nor is there a way to go back to the app provided one that I see?

Great answer! Took me forever to find it.

I would add one step for the Google Messages app from Notification Categories-->Incoming Messages, then select your sound. I did this for both Incoming Messages and Other Notifications.

Nov 2024, the manage notifications is turned on.  The "sound" option does not show up in any apps.  ALL my apps are using the same notification sound. 😠
