Can't add Samsung account to Secure Folder

I can't add Samsung account to Secure Folder. I get a toast message: "Something went wrong while trying to sign you into your account."

I tried signing in by email and by scanning QR code. I tried uninstalling Secure Folder and setting it up again. Nothing worked.

Any ideas?

Personally don't use it. Have you. Checked if you need to give it an permissions in the app?

Problem seems to be related to my inability to add Samsung account to Secure Folder. I recreated Secure Folder backup with Smart Switch. I set encryption with password and when I restore it, that password doesn't work.

Hi, @dopino3773. That's strange. This isn't something I've been able to recreate.

Are you able to elaborate on the specific steps you've followed to add your Samsung Account to the Secure Folder?

Sure.

  1. Open Secure Folder
  2. Three dots -> Settings
  3. Manage accounts
  4. Add account
  5. Samsung account

I tried logging in with email + password, email + one-time email confirmation, Google, and QR code. Same issue every time.

I also tried to go to Restore from backup and add account from there. Same issue.

And, I also tried to enable "Auto sync Secure Folder data" and login in Internet (browser). I can login in Internet, but it doesn't add account to Secure Folder.

Ah, I see. That's puzzling, so I think it'll require a closer look. 👍

I recommend that you submit an Error report capturing this occurring in your Secure Folder.

To submit an Error report, please head to Samsung Members > Support > Scroll to Send feedback > Error reports. From here, you can select a category, include a brief description, as well as a screenshot of the error message.

Thanks, I'll try 🙂 Hopefully, support won't provide usual canned response.

I don't know if it's related (it sounds like it could be a more general account sign-in issue) but I'm having trouble signing in with my Samsung account on my S22. I changed the account email address and password earlier today, and I have been able to log in without issue through a browser (both on PC and S22). However, when I try to sign in via the phone's apps (Settings, Galaxy Members, Galaxy App Store, etc) I just get the error:

"Something went wrong while signing you in to your account"

Samsung Care Support found a workaround. Uninstall updates on Samsung account app and then it works. It's not just for Secure Folder, but also for phone.
I initially logged in to phone on previous version of Samsung account.

How to do it:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Scroll to Apps and click it
  3. Click on Search-filter icon in the top right corner
  4. Search for Samsung account and click on it
  5. Click on 3-dots in top right corner
  6. Click on Uninstall updates
  7. Click on OK to confirm
  8. You may now login to Samsung account
