Camera keeps doing a countdown even though countdown function is off

This is driving me crazy ! My selfie mode keeps doing a countdown when I go to take a picture on my S24! 

It's making me miss really nice moments with my son and it's his 2nd birthday this weekend and I feel like im not going to take any pictures! I've rang Samsung, they did a camera data reset, I've done a software update (which made facebook play up but that's a separate issue) and I've been playing around with my camera today and the timer came on by itself again.

It's fully turned off, so please don't suggest I turn it off, its doing it on its own randomly. 

I can't get an appointment with Samsung for repair for 2 weeks, but I need this resolving by Friday. I only bought the phone for the good camera so the fact is ruining nice pictures at an important time in my family's life is so upsetting. 

Please help.

Hi there 👋, have you tried go to settings> apps> camera and force stop it? Then go back into the camera and see if issue persist?

I'm pretty sure we tried this one the phone yesterday, the Samsung guy used the smart tutor app and did a few things before deleting all data from the camera but I will try this. Does it sound like a software issue? Will a factory reset resolve it? I just want to be able to take nice pictures for my little boys birthday weekend 😔 xx

You could also perform a wipe cache partition, the last thing you could do obviously back up everything and try do factory reset

It's turned off, I never have the timer turned on, the timer is counting down without my pressing anything at all, literally on its own, always from 2 seconds xx

Do apologise, I missed the part where you mention its turned off. I would suggest wipe phones cache partition, or try factory reset as @Iminvti recommends. Good luck, hope you manage to sort it.

May I please ask (and sorry if it is a stupid question but I'm good at those), where you say you've turned the countdown off, where exactly?

On the screen, at the top, there is a countdown timer option there. Is it set to 0?

Hi, @amyleigh2610. In addition to what's already been suggested and what you might have already tried, please can you let us know whether resetting your Camera app's settings resolves this for you?

To do this, please open the Camera app > Click the gear icon on the top right > Reset settings > Reset.

After doing this, please see if the issue persists (or if the timer stops appearing).
