On the S24, they've made a change to the navigation gesture bar. The old 3-position bar (swipe up for app drawer, home, back) has been replaced with a single bar in the middle that goes home. To go back, you have to swipe in from the sides, and opening the app task drawer is not as straightforward.

I believe it would be beneficial if they provided the option to have the three separate gesture navigation options back. This would allow users to choose the navigation method that they prefer and are most comfortable with. Galaxy S24 Ultra. Galaxy S24+. Galaxy S24

Visiting this thread again to check up on the status.

Samsung is a hardware company. Please don't force update that fixes what is working and being used actively. Just stay focused on your business of making great phones and leave the software to Google.

Were you able to set navigation back from my previous post on how to do it? Hope it helps you.

I'm glad I came to this thread. Just got the update for my S22 Ultra and was upset that they had changed the navigation. But, after reading through some replies, I was able to bring back the separate 3 bars. If anyone is still stuck, follow these steps:

  • Download GoodLock from the Galaxy Store if you haven't already (don't remember if it's preinstalled)
  • In GoodLock, download NavStar under Make Up
  • Open NavStar and select Swipe Gestures at the bottom.
  • Turn on at the top (if it isn't on in the main settings, it will ask you to turn it on and take you there)
  • Once that is done, in NavStar, select Enable Extra gesture settings
  • With that on, go to your phones Settings>Display>Navigation Bar (near the bottom)
  • Under where the options for Buttons and Swipe Gestures is, select More Options
  • Now you should have the options of Swipe from Bottom (3 bars) or  Swipe from sides and bottom (1 bar)
  • Choose your settings as desired. (Looks like image below)

I hope this helps anyone still annoyed by the forced change.

I ***** hate it. It was so much easier before and made things quick and easy to navigate. I agree that they shpuld add the option for it if not just bring it back. I swear I have had the urge to toss my phone multiple times jist this morning. (For context it was an update on my samsumg S22+)

Just arrived- another upset user. They just removed my 3 navigation bars from my Zfold4 on last night's update without prompting. Super mad 😡

Lasted hours trying to get them back without success, thinking they had moved the setting (like they always do) somewhere else-- but no, all removed, leaving only those 3 annoying huge buttons or ONE stupid bar that never gets right what you wanted. 😠

Did Samsung ever think of the consequences of ONE single useless bar in a Fold??? You can't even reach it with the thumb!!! Your UI/UX 'geniuses' deserve a resignation letter due to one universal principle in mobiles: if it ain't broken and millions use it, then you don't remove it!

Please get those 3 nav bars as they were! Too many annoyed users here

Thank you, but it is not in the Samsung Store anymore, so I installed it from another source and the system has it blocked regardless. So it seems like a hands-tied situation. Any other solution or am I missing something?

You first need to install the GoodLock application. NavStar is installed within that application.
