@Bandit61: Good Lock, available from the Galaxy Store, features some great ways to expand the customisation options on your device. I'd also recommend opening the Google Play Store > Top Charts > Top free, and exploring the options here, as this should help to provide a guideline for what other Android users are gravitating towards.

Google messages, definitely the best application, and because of RCS better than WhatsApp or Viber. Viber and WhatsApp are good for calls, but in messages Google is unsurpassed, although it is not recognized as such.

Everything from Google, Samsung or Microsoft  is good.
