Hi guys, In August of this year my s23 ultra was submerged in salt water for around an hour. When I got out I done the usual fixes like a hair dryer, bag of rice etc. this fixed it for about a month until the moisture warnings came back, so i contacted Samsung support about it and they suggested i go to my nearest repair centre (which in my case was an EE store). I explained my issue to the people at the EE store and they took it and examined it, and surprisingly found nothing (despite multiple moisture warnings). They factory reset the device, reflashed the software etc. This worked for about a month, and then the warnings afe back.WHAT DO I DO??

Thanks for reading👀

Hi there, if it was submerged in salty water for an hour then it might be some corrosion somewhere on the phone like USB charging port or some flex cables or even motherboard, I suggest you to go back in and say that issue still exists, usually EE repairs done lazy jobs when it comes to repairs, their do simple solutions and one of them works they go for it and it's done. If it requires more skills or like replacing something they usually says ohh "your fault " etc i would go there and ask to repair it properly and inspect it under consumers act.

The EE store said all was good, (not to say their right). I will raise with Samsung tomorrow, as it's still under warranty I might request a replacement device or if that isn't possible I'll ask for a Samsung service centre to take a look at it. It only happens sometimes, not all the time which is what confuses me. Thank you for your help🙏

Does the Warranty cover salt water?

Not a problem 👌 but you see the thing is with EE repairs from my experience they do most basic tests etc and if they short on part etc they will do simplest troubleshoot and whatever sticks with them they go for it. Salty water under 1 hour should definitely damaged something or overtime caused corrosion on some part. Good luck and you most definitely should rise with samsung and see if it's possible to replace or fix the issue. 🙂

generally not, but EE said on paper and in words, that there is no faults. As mentioned above, They do the most basic tests. I'll try everything I can to get this issue fixed, and let's just say this isn't the only issue with this device so I'll be mentioning that aswell.

Appreciate your help, will be contacting Samsung about this for sure. Have it on paper that the device is fine, so if they ask I'll send them a picture of it saying there's no issues.😊

That's even better, because "salty water" isn't under warranty I believe if they gave you paper saying all fine luck is on your side, hopefully all works out for you 🙂
