WhatsApp media is shown in the gallery but cannot be synced/backed up to OneDrive ANYMORE, with NO WARNING! A google search will show that many many people have been having this issue for a long time.
The pictures tab shows whatsapp media as well as a little tick in the OneDrive icon supposedly indicating everything is backed up, but whatsapp media ISN'T.
Only in the albums tab of Samsung Gallery can one see that WhatsApp Images/Videos/Documents have the little OneDrive icon crossed out, tapping on it will open the "albums to sync" settings page which does NOT list the whatsapp media folders.
I have found no way around this nor any setting to make Samsung Gallery list WhatsApp media folders as albums to sync.
Only realized this once I opened my onedrive photos on pc and saw half of my gallery missing, thank god I didn't "free up space" in a long time or I would've lost a lot of memories.
Please fix this!!!!!

Unfortunately I think it's a Samsung issue, I've found online that a lot of other people with Samsungs are having this problem. It used to work on my previous phone, a Huawei: there was an option within the OneDrive app on Huawei called Camera upload that allowed the OneDrive app itself to directly back up your photos, but it is unavailable in the OneDrive app on Samsung, it forces you to link Samsung Gallery to OneDrive for backup, which for some reason doesn't let you select WhatsApp media folders for backup despite displaying them in the gallery.

Continuation: just did a couple searches with different brands as keyword, and the OneDrive Camera upload feature is usually standard on most Android brands/phones, somehow not Samsung though, as long as Samsung Gallery and OneDrive are linked.
For whatever reason it's different on Samsung and social media folders aren't synced (see link below, why though???), so for anyone with the same issue, apparently the only solution is unlinking them and using solely OneDrive.
Makes no sense to me why Samsung Gallery would show all media folders in the gallery but wouldn't allow you to sync some of them, especially while not clearly and explicitly letting you know. (will add a reply with screenshots) The unavailability of a feature in order to avoid two apps backing up on the same service is understandable, but the exclusion of some folders that we can all agree should be standard (and are on other brands) without warning or justification is not ok.

I do not think there is way around this due to whatsapp policy of not supporting the One Drive back up. Notice reports suggesting to check the settings in one's Drive's camera Backup but that option no longer exists. https://windowsreport.com/whatsapp-backup-files-onedrive/
I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
