Usb settings doesn't connect automatically.

Since update to one ui 8 when I plug my phone into computer to transfer music you now get a message come up on phone, go into usb setting on phone gives you a load of options charge phone only transfer music and files ect, ect, why is this? computer doesn't recognise phone untill you select transfer music and files. It use to do this automatically plug phone and go.

It's a security feature to prevent data loss. Basically, if you plug your phone into a charger or a computer that's malicious, your files are locked away until you enable the transfer. So it can only charge the battery.

On one ui 7, a malicious charger could actually be a little computer, once you connect, it starts transferring your files to itself. Rare but possible, especially with public chargers.

You can bypass it if you really want to, but it will lower security

Thank you m8, sorted it. went into developer mode changed configured usb settings then changed to transfer and file opens up straight away now when I connect phone to computer.

Yes, manual change is possible, BUT:
this settings is NOT persistent 😞
Whenever I connect my Smartphone via USB cable the next time its back in "charge-only" mode.
I need no such user-unfriendly additional security protection: I have always my one-and-only charger  which I trust.
So Samsung should change this annoyance and introduce at least an user option "remember this setting"

Can you tell me how to bypass this security for the usb. It is driving me crazy when I connect to my desktop multiple times a day and always have to give it permission. Thank you!

Inside dev settings there's an option to set the default usb transfer mode. Set that to something, probably file transfer mode
