Transferring info from S8 to S23

Hi all,

I'm looking for some help please. I'm not very good with tech and bought a new S23 6 months ago that remains unused. I have had a S8 Since 2016 and really want to move my photos mainly and also apps over to the new phone. I have same SIM. Can someone please explain the simplest way for me to do this please?

Hi there, you can use smart switch app and you should be able to transfer everything you can use it wired (both phones connected to same usb) or wireless hope it helps. 🙂

@Members_ZPawkMM: When transferring personal files and data from one Galaxy device to another, the simplest way to do this is via Smart Switch. Some applications cannot be moved over, however, and will need to be redownloaded via the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store. To find out more, please take a look at the link below.

On your Galaxy S8, I also recommend heading to Settings > Accounts and backup > Backup and restore, and backup your data via the Samsung and Google account options that are available here. If you register the same accounts to your Galaxy S23, then the data will be seamlessly integrated to your new device.

As has been said. Simplest way is via smartswitch.
Though personally I'd use wired transfer rather than wireless. It's quicker for one and I find i get far less issues using wired.

It depends on how confident you are.
But going from such an old phone to new. I would be tempted to backup the old phone and setup from backup on the new phone.

If you do use smartswitch, I would recommend Wiping the Partition Cashe once all setup to eliminate and corrupt data.

You will definitely notice the difference in the phones and the new phone will a be great upgrade

I always use the same formula. 

Samsung Cloud to move apps and settings etc. 

Samsung SmartSwitch to move my gallery across.
