Samsung updates & beta program

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd share my views on all this "where's the August update and beta program".

There seems to be a lot of angry people complaining about this😅,but personally speaking I'm not that concerned.

The updates will come when they are ready,it's not like we are not going to receive any updates ever again.

I understand people wanting updates for the security of their phones,but our phones are not in any danger as far as I know having to wait a few extra weeks 🤷😂.

I've had phones from other brands where you get updates maybe once every 3 months(oppo, OnePlus) and those phones worked absolutely fine with no risk to the user.

One thing I would agree on is that Samsung should communicate to it's customers on when updates are likely to be released,then at least people would have an idea of when they are coming and thus not be soooo angry😅.

As for the beta,this does make me laugh a bit when some(not all) of users moan about not getting it yet,and these are the same people that moan that it's a "buggy mess" when they do finally install it...........like yeah it's a beta 🤷😂.

Anyway these are just my thoughts and I'm sorry if you disagree with me,it's just an opinion and not to cause offence😊.

Security updates only tend to be released to address known threats etc so there will be times where there are no new serious threats so there will be longer between updates but on other occasions new threats can be discovered which prompts extra updates so some months can include 2 or more updates in the same month. Feature updates are different as they can be simple bug fixes or adding new functions etc but timing can still vary. I much prefer stable releases rather than rushing and getting it wrong and messing up your device

I remember my time with OnePlus,and although great phones their updates were the stuff of nightmares 😱🤣

Quite a few people have already got the August update on the S23... UK and rest of Europe is still waiting. It's been weeks since it rolled out to Thailand which was 1st to get it.

S23 SHOULD receive update EVERY month.

@maodaa, at no point has @tinglish said they don't do monthly updates.

What I read is that users expecting to get updates at start of month but that does not always happen for unforseen reasons. We have so far had monthly updates largely at beginning of month but last month & this month seem to have dragged to latter end of month... hence Samsung still have another 6 days before they fall outside of their monthly scope.

Also if they do go outside of this all that will happen is people will raise here, nothing will change & then update comes & so the pattern repeats next month.

If going to shout about it then do something different to constant forum posts as they get boring... or have patience. I'm not aware of any critical Android security issues at this time, that not to say there are none, & with banking apps etc I prefer to be up to date, but Samsung will have some reason for delay.

I think everyone's beef is more they are not communicating as that would placate things.
