S23 Ultra poor picture quality on whatsapp

Hi everyone, how can I impove photos and video quality shared on whatsapp? The phone takes high quality images and videos but whenever I try to share on whatsapp status or sending to photos directly to my contacts the quality diminishes so bad to an extend that it becomes blurry. What can i do? I have selected best quality shots on whatsapp settings.

I was certain the iphone compresses just as much? My partner is using the 13 pro max and the same hapoens with her WhatsApp. The quality is reduced severely.

It does compress but it is way much better than this one 🥹

Hey, I really think it has to do with the format samsung and other android devices save pictures and videos. IPhone default saves photos as HEIF while android saves as JPeg; while Jpeg files are easily shared to others, HEIF on the other hand are not compatible with some devices; but the trick is, HEIF files retain much quality with decreased file size. See below image. So what I've done with my S23 is to change the default photo format to HEIF (you'll find this in "Advanced Picture Options" in your camera settings). I just did this change now, so I'm not sure yet if new pictures I take in this format will retain much quality better when I upload on status and share with friends, but I think it'll be. Hope this helps.

...I don't know why samsung havnt sorted this out yet,coz iphone and huawei post amazing quality photos on whatsapp, can't they see what's happening around them...the only solution we have now is using whatsapp web or an android app called Pure status...samsung is really failing us, our phone has the best pictures in our gallery but people see something else when we post on whatsapp,it is really frustrating after paying so much money

Hey guys,  I'm facing same issue as duxie. I'm using s23 ultra. And phone is capturing good shots but when I'm trying to set the status on WhatsApp or a WhatsApp profile pic then photos are breaking like some low budget phones. And I have cross checked with low budget phones as well and photos from those phones are performing very well as compare to s23 ultra. I don't know why samsung is committing that s23 ultra has the best camera. And i know that WhatsApp comprase the images but what about other phones, from other phone pics are uploading fine. I'm not very satisfied with the s23 ultra camera. Hey samsung please do something to improve pixel quality when uploading in status, profile picture or Sharing in WhatsApp in next update on samsung software.

Visit playstore and search for it, it's very easy to use,it post images as if there were videos
