I've had my phone about a month now. I bought it brand new and have recently changed my notification tone. After changing it, the new tone plays temporarily but after a few hours the tone stops playing when receiving new notifications. It just vibrates and does not play the notification tone. Not only that, if I change it to another sound, no other notification sound plays.

I have gone into general settings and done a reset. That fixes it temporarily then after a day again, the notification tone stops playing again.

The phone isn't on DND. All the other sounds are working - ringtone, alarm, system sound. It's just the notification sound.

Any suggestions why this isn't working? Maybe a software bug

I'm thinking it may be the latest software update that has caused this as it was working fine before this latest update. Here is the latest update1730027849854.jpg

Hi @m_src 👋

Do try this troubleshooting step >

  • Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

You can send feedback via your Samsung Members App too.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

I'm unable to get into the section to clear system partition and I don't think that'll make a difference. I have tried different button combos- volume up and power.. Volume down and power. Neither of these bring bring up the system menu. I clicked the link you gave and have tried the device care menu option. The issue still remains. Another user reported the same issue with a different phone. https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-a-series/notifications/td-p/10934704?src=ShareByUserCM

I think it's an issue with the latest update as I was not having this issue a couple of weeks ago. The latest update is:
Update information One Ul version: 6.1 Android version: 14 Current version: S918BXXS6CXI4 / S918BOXM6CXI4/S918BXXS6CXI4 Security patch level: 1 October 2024

You had any luck with this. I'm having the same issue. I think it's a software update that's caused it. It's the only thing that makes sense. I've tried everything I know to fix it.

No, I've still not got it to work. I've reported the fault. Hopefully it gets fixed in the next software update

I have the same issue. And system sound is working only if you have a background music playing e.g. Video playing / music app playing.

When's the next update? Hopefully it should fix our devices...
