Good Morning

I updated my S23 on 5 March 2025. Since then my Notification sounds don't work. I've tried resetting but even resetting you can't hear the tones to see if that is the one I want. I have tried restarting my phone as well. Is this a bug in the One UI 6.1 Android Version 14

Thanks

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community.

To be sure:
Go to Settings - Sounds and vibration - at the top, make sure "Sound" is selected, not vibrate/mute. Then, volume - make sure all sliders are up.

@innoxx go into Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Mobile Network Connection.

If that does not help then First turn the phone Off and On i.e a Soft Reboot, but if that does not help then follow this by trying a forced reboot by holding down the volume down key and power button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it. When your phone resets, you will feel it vibrate.

Does the sim work in another phone ?

Does this issue happen everywhere you go ?

Does another sim card work in your phone.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Hello 👋 @dessy3

Try a forced reboot by holding down the volume down key and power button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it. When your phone resets, you will feel it vibrate.

Another generic troubleshooting step is

  • Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port or a usb-c to usb-c phone to phone set up to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

May I suggest to perform a forum search as you may find already existing threads with help and advice within.

Hopefully you don't have to Factory Reset.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Hello

I have the same problem with notifications. All stopped since latest update. I have tried all the things suggested above but still silent. Will a factory reset cure it ? Or will Samsung issue a update to rectify it.

Your replies would be appreciated

I solved my notification problem by doing a hard reset on settings and accessibility. Lost no data but notification sounds came back. Had to reset wi fi that's all. Worth a try

Edit:

After charging up my device, the notification sounds somehow came back. Did nothing, very strange.

I have the same problem since yesterday (4/29) after updating to one ui 7 (s23 Ultra). My notification sound is set to max, do not disturb is off, phone is on "sound", and still no notification sounds, only vibration.

But I've noticed a weird quirk, when I'm in the notification sound settings panel, any notifications received will have sound. As soon as I leave the settings app, all returns to vibrate only. Hope it gets fixed soon, I keep missing notifications.

I also have this problem since the UI7 update a few days ago. I even got a new SIM, but that was not the problem.  The notification sound works once after a phone restart, then silence again.  Can you fix this, please Samsung, as a matter of urgency?
