I tried the filter and scene optimizer from the links above. The problem is that the captured picture does not have the same brightness as the camera display when the picture is taken.
My previous Samsung cameras closely matched the brightness of the camera display when the picture was viewed in the gallery.
Editing each picture after taking it is a horrible solution. You need to be sure the camera captured the shot as viewed on the screen or the moment may be lost.
Will Samsung fix this or am I looking for a new phone?

Hi TaM44 does this still have the same name? I'm having the same problem where the Samsung camera is way too dark compared to my Samsung A50... like it's ridiculous.

I have Samsung Prime J6 and now Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, they all have the same issue. Yes, the photo I shot darker the ortginal picture, the original document. I'm very upset about it, no more use Samsung phone.
Nokia phone is even better. The shot photo always bright as the original document. What bad with the camera of Samsung? How bad techtique?

@Gian Le: Please try opening the Camera app > Tap the cog symbol in the top left > Advanced intelligence options > Quality optimisation, and set this to Medium or Minimum to see if this helps. Furthermore, toggle on 'Scene optimiser' to make dark scenes look brighter.

☹️ Such a disappointment. I bought the phone for the same reason to find out that either physically or the software are unable to do good captures with the dark colors. My experience is that every dark color in a picture is converted to black so you can not get a picture with different color tunes, like there is not good sensitivity to differentiate it. Then just give up and accept you will never see any color on your eyes unless they are super light blue or green, same with the hair unless you are extremely blonde. and if you have a mix of dark objects in your picture don't even try to see what is what unless you are willing to process the picture after the capture.

Same problem tried pro mode because of too much saturation in normal photo mode and getting too dark shadows +
Having same problem newly bought s23+ images caputred at 50mp destroyed by refining, totally different than reality and too SOFTNESS AND BLURRY than... Cannot to turn off tried everything but loading spinner is there and doing troubles, this should be DISABLED by default. This just making good cameras hardware to became bad!
p.s. in pro mode captured photos looks too dark on shadows etc..its hard to set it for normal capturing... anyway this refining should be removed from normal photo mode totally!

Can the S20 app also let you use flash at less than 1X zoom? Samsung was stupid to remove this capability. Claiming the flash cannot cover the entire width of tbe wider zoom. I use fill flash all the time. My Note 20 Uktra takes better photos as it allow fill flash.
