"Extend Unlock" not working with "Trusted Places" (i.e., Home)

On my Samsung S23 Ultra (through Verizon), the "Extend Unlock" feature is not working with "Trusted Places" (set to my home address selected using Google Maps) while I am home. Even with that set in "Trusted Places" (and being there!), I'm having to enter my phone's 4-digit PIN *each* time I turn on my phone -- even if it's a minute after it was on the previous time. (I also have a "Trusted Device" specified (my laptop which is almost always running), but my phone doesn't appear to recognize that either as I still have to input my phone's 4-digit PIN each time I turn it on.) This is very frustrating!

I have been through everything I can find in this forum and everything I can find online. My z flip 5 no longer has any sort of option for a trusted place or extend unlock or whatever they are calling it. It is really annoying to have to put in my passcode or password every single time I open my phone at home. The only alternative seems to be eliminating the security feature and that's not an option in case I forget to turn it back on. It is absurd to have an update that knocks out a security feature. My phone still shows that there is a trusted place but when you click on it nothing nothing. Everything else suggested either doesn't exist on the phone or doesn't go anywhere. Samsung please fix this. You seem to roll out and useless AI instead of items with no problem. Why not just fix what's broken first?

Very simple. It's not a priority to THEM. The CUSTOMER'S priorities don't matter,  Samsung supplied rhetoric claiming the opposite notwithstanding.

If it were, it would've been fixed. It's not sexy enough for them, it's not a fad that will create new revenue stream for them.

THAT'S IT, nothing more. I dare ANYONE in Samsung to prove me wrong. I'm a big boy, I can admit I'm wrong but they have to prove it. I'd need to be taken in and do an audit on the business process. How likely would that be??????? 1:10,000,000,000,000 chances?

Hmmmm, I'd hazard a guess it would go something like this:

Samsung: It's a Google issue, we cant do anything about it.

Google:It's a Samsung issue, we can't do anything about it.

Case closed.

Both: Hey, try out new AI. We have new products for you to purchase. Now THAT business process I guarantee you will not have any flaws. It's the epitome of great coding and intuitive design with very quick response. It's fast and simple to gobble up our hard earned money for a lot of half-assed stuff.

Lets go for the 73rd same comment saying that the feature is not working !!

I remember a time when companies cared about quality !

Comming from a software validation engineer, I could help you if you want !

Ps: a cool feature would be to trust a wifi to extend unlock and not a bluetooth, I can also do product owner if you want !

I have a Galaxy A15 and I have the same problem as many users are experiencing.  I have been through a  large number of the replies and have tried all the suggested fixes.  I agree with what many users are saying, "It's a Samsung issue that they choose not to fix."  There is no other explanation.

Yes exactly.

I also recently reset my S23 Ultra to factory settings. The extend lock worked for a few days as well as face id (which I'll bet is another issue many are having problems with). After that, back to status quo: nothing works.

HOWEVER, if we act now, we can save $50 on pre Christmas sales. Nothing to see here, but, hey look, you can buy this fun thing too. Give us more money and continue seeing your proctologist.

well, entirely by mistake I ended up setting up a fingerprint-unlock (i thought it was for a particular site, but turned out it was for the phone itself) - lucky accident, cuz now it's so easy to unlock it, it doesn't matter anymore...

Go to security and clear your credentials. I'm now able to delete a trusted place that kept reappearing.

  • Unfortunately I've tried that several times before and it never worked.
