Notifications on lock screen DEALBREAKER?

Hi all,

After hearing all the glowing reviews, went with a Galaxy s23. The UI seems, well, clunky. Biggest problem: no notifications on lock screen.

I have SCOURED these forums and the web - and tried all the basics: Turning off AOD and deep sleep, allowing permissions - every single thing that has been mentioned. No mobile data saver, AOD off, brief notifications...

Still nothing, nada, zilch.

This is so basic...I can't use a phone that you have to wake up, fingerprint, then swipe just to see notifications - this should be a default. It shouldn't be this much cryptic tinkering - I've got a couple of hours into this - unacceptable.

The only thing I can figure is this is another sneaky way to keep us swiping away longer?

Does anyone have ANY new suggestions before I send this phone back?

thank you!

Hi I have the s24 ultra but you could try - type lock screen and AOD in settings scroll all the way down to "looking for something else?" at the bottom it will say notification to show - click on that and toggle them on also on the same page - notifications to show to select to your preference

The S23 Ultra (and it's newer playmate S24 Ultra) are amongst the most customisable mobile devices out there. You can personalise these devices to suit your needs. There will be a setting for most things. 🫠

You can even select settings by individual app.

Did you think about the security aspect of the function.

Like someone else picks your phone up that is currently secure. It is either left on a train or stolen.

Oh and look... any old person can start to read the private content of your phone notifications. No need for a fingerprint or authentication.

I think it is desirable for most users to have the correct level of security before being able to access personal data.

You can get a basic notification on lock screen but not with any significant detail.

For more interaction did you think perhaps enable on biometrics the face unlock function ? Just hold the phone in front of face, and it should unlock to being able to read notifications without any button presses?

Kind regards
Smiley

I have notifications set to appear on lock screen but only the icon, not the detail.

Hi there 👋 and warm welcome

As @smiley rightfully said its for your own privacy. You can see some information but not all of it.

Personally I would not want notifications fully displayed on lock screen i much rather unlock my phone and check them all.

There's many people experiencing these same issues. Samsung ain't doing ***** all about it either! My phone is going in for a diagnostics to Samsung and they've said if they can't find anything but know there are issues, they'll replace our refund me.
