Hi all,

My S23 ultra has started to have a network connectivity issue.

I find if I go somewhere where there is no cell/mobile service and then return to a good reception area, the phone never reconnects to the network, instead it just says "no service".

The only was around this is to reboot the phone. This fixes it for a few minutes, then it drops off again, so I have to reboot a second time, then we are OK.

I have the most recent OneUi 6.1 August update. I have tried resetting the network settings. Also I have an eSIM (no physical SIM) on the EE network (UK).

I am not sure if this only started after the recent August update or not.

Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

Thanks.

Thank you for the response. I did look through previous posts before posting but couldn't really find exactly the same issue, and none of the posts seems to be resolved, so I thought I'd ask.

I have done all the usual things, reset network settings, not have a physical SIM, clear cache etc.

I have currently set the phone to not select 5G (only LTE and below) to see if that fixes it, as that was one of the suggestions in another post.

I'll comment back if that fixes it.

Thanks.

Do you always have your wifi toggle turned on?

Yes, wifi is always on, although not connected to a network at the time.

Only thinking because my wifi is always turned off. I have the unlimited data plan with EE. So wifi for me is not needed. I have to say I never get any connection issue with my S23U.
I was just thinking that because you have your wifi always on. When you do have a very poor signal. Then perhaps it concentrates on searching for a wifi signal and basically ignores the network signal when it finally strengthens.
Have you tried turning off your wifi toggle when out and about?

Thanks for the response.

I'll try turning off WiFi next. My job takes me to a place once a week where this issue happens (no service then never reconnects). So this week I'll try excluding 5G to see if that does anything, then disable wifi next...Hopefully i can narrow it down.

Just a quick update. I tried excluding 5G and the problem still happened, although the error is "Emergency calls only" rather than No Service.

After a reboot I returned to 5G and disabled WiFi. The signal lasted a little longer but once it dropped into No Service it never recovered.

All the time I had an iPhone next to me, also on EE with one bar of service, which was frustrating.

All of this only started recently, so I do wonder if the recent update (that claimed to only be a security patch) has caused it.

The other thing I did while the phone reported No Service was run the Members Diagnostics app, specifically the Mobile Network test, this reported 5G "Normal".

I'm not sure what the test is testing, and how the phone reports no service but the test says 5G normal. Maybe I have missed the point of this test.

Mine just started going out of service into emergency mode. Vzw can't help.  I have a Galaxy 23 ultra and it will not connect to calls,  drop calls,  go in and out of service.
