I'm currently using the Google messaging app on my S23U as I can sync my messages across different phone brands. I was wondering if there was a good alternative that was secure and would allow me to sync across different phone brands?

Settings, google, all services, backup. Make sure thats on. That'll backup and sync your messages using google themselves. Meaning it works on any device as long as it's not an iPhone.

Is the Samsung messages app better than Google's? If so I could use that and do the back up as suggested.

Google messages is better. Samsung has said to move over to google for a few years now.
Complex answer but short version is google messages handles rcs better and easier than samsung messages does

Thanks. I'll stick with Google then and check the back up is on as you suggested. Thanks again for your advice.
