Google Assistant (hey Google) On Lock Screen

Just recently and after the August patch, have noticed that the Google assistant (hey Google) command doesn't activate when the phone is locked / always on display is showing. 

It works if you press the power button so the finger print sensor icon is showing and when the phone is unlocked but again when the phone is locked it doesn't activate, which kinda defies the point! 

Troubleshooting so far has included... 

• Reboot and cold boot 
• Re training of voice 
• Lock screen setting is on and was cycled off and on 
• Assistant uninstalled and reinstalled 
• Power saving mode not on 

Failing a factory reset and re testing I'm out of troubleshooting options 

So my question is has anyone else seen this assistant issue when the phone is locked?

Yeah but I fail to see what that would have to do with Google assistant?

Can you long press the 'Google' app and press the little i on the right, make sure your permissions are all activated. Check that 'Appear on Top' is on, and check that the Battery is not on 'Restricted'.

If this doesn't work, maybe try disabling any Good Lock modules you have running for your lock screen and see if that helps.

Seeing the same exact issue, works fine when device is not locked but it will not work while phone is locked.

Also went through similar troubleshooting steps without any luck.

Seems like something broke with the most recent update, as it was working fine previously.  Glad to hear at least I'm not the only one seeing this.

The Google app had an update in the last day or so and just tested and assistant now works again on lock screen

Nice find.  In my case I was already running the updated version and it still wasn't working.

Had to fully uninstall that app, re-install and then re-enable the Hey google functionality.  Seems to be working again.

hey i have samsung m51 a miderange samsung phone i've tried setting the battery to unsrestriced but it still doesn't work do u have any solution to it?
