Hi, my fingerprint sensor has suddenly stopped working. I put a new screen protector on a week ago and did the sensitive prints before adding it.
It sunndenly stopped working yesterday and after about 10 restarts and shutting down my phone it still isn't back
I have a samsung galaxy S23, any help would be appreciated thanks

Re-register your fingerprints

What screen protector you use? Some don't work properly, I would stick with Samsung ones

I've tried but when I find fingerprints in settings it just says the fingerprint sensor is not working, try and restart. They worked for about a week with the new protector on, so I'm not sure why it'd stop now.

Run diagnostics through members app and see if it detects hardware issue

Have you tried removing the screech protector? You never said what screen protector you using?

I've just tried and it says the fingerprint sensor isn't working. Just removed the screen protector too and no change, it doesn't even show the thumb print. I'm using a S23 compatible tempered glass one from Amazon.

Contact support and see what they say, there is a chance it could be faulty hardware and will require fixing. Can't say if they will change you or not it will be based on how long you have had the phone, where it was brought and it they believe you damaged it

Not all tempered glass screen protector are compatible but seeing that the hard seems to have stopped work it maybe fine

@Jobo97 please try > Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

Run the diagnostic tool in your Samsung Members App.

If that fails then a last resort is to back up and factory reset and then see what happens.

If needed a Samsung Service Centre can help.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

I cant seem to get the cache menu to show when I turn my phone off, even that comes up with an error. I'll speak to customer service again and see if they can suggest anything else.

Update: had a doorstep repair booked yesterday. The guy took my phone and drove around looking for good enough service to run tests on it, and came back saying he couldn't fix it as there wasn't good service in my area. The phone now needs to be posted off to be fixed, or alternatively I drive an hour to the nearest store that can look at it.
I don't want to do either of those things, but looks like that's the only option as I have tried everything else and the sensor still doesn't work.
I've looked everywhere online to see if anyone else has this issue, and haven't found anything so far 😕

Same here with the S23 Ultra. No one has been able to resolve this fingerprint sensor issue.
