My Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra fingerprint Biometrics is still working as it should so I'm not sure what's happening with your phone 🤔
It could be hardware or software related.
Maybe try and completely delete the fingerprints and then Clear the phone's System Partition Cache Files Section > Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }
Then force reboot by holding down the volume down key and power button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it. When your phone resets, you will feel it vibrate.
Then Reset up your fingerprints.
If all else fails then last resort is a back up and factory reset.
A Samsung Service Centre can assess your phone if this issue continues.

I can't use finger Print on my s23 ultra anymore after the update .. i feel like using 1980 phone..so weird. I thought only my phone🙄 tried to reset the settings but no improvement
