Hey guys. I got my S23 about 6 months ago. I use it mainly for recording videos overhead of books and similar type things. My old phones that I had previously worked fine for this, but the specs on the camera have improved drastically so I was pretty excited.
Anyway when I started filming with the phone, it seems to have lots of weird issues that are a little tricky to explain but I think they are related to the focus.
For example, when a book is in shot and I move it at all, even slightly, or turn the page, it managed to keep the book in focus ( sort of ) but the background goes really shaky and distorted. It also looks like my camera is not still, and is shaking whenever there is movement.
I have spoken to samsung to try and fix the issue multiple times, sent the phone back for repair, done updates, factory resets, safe modes and various tests, cleaned lenses etc nothing effects it. Even when I record in pro / manual mode which is not ideal for me, the background still goes distorted. They have been incredible unhelpful and it has ended up being a really stressful frustrating and time consuming experience with none of the people at Samsung even being able to understand the issue.
I assume it's a hardware issue but wanted to check has anyone else got this issue or is it just me?
Aside from that the focus seems quite unreliable compared to the older models too. Thanks in advance
Update: seems from the comments that a lot of other people are experience the same issues, but the people noticing it are mainly like me who bought the phones to record youtube content and similar. So far it doesn't look like anyone has found any way to improve or fix this and Samsung doesn't seem to acknowledge it. I'm absolutely devastated about it.

Same problem here, from Brazil. Talk with the assistence, but they don't understand my problem. I tried in december 2023. Try to change all configurations, but nothing changes. This is extremely frustating. I buy this phone for my YouTube channel, but I just simply cannot put scenarios behind me because it get distorced and out of focus.

Samsung is not solving this problem. I contact them and they tell me to "update the system" and "clean lens of the camera". This is ridiculous.

I am too facing this issue but the problem just started for me after updating my device to Sequrity Patch 1/11/24 One ui 6.1 in my S23 . Earlier it was fine as i record stuff daily . But after updating the same problem is happening .

Yeah that sounds exactly the same as my situation. No matter how hard I tried to explain it, send examples, send it back etc they couldn't see the issue and nothing I tried fixed it. I tried as much as I could think of

Yeah, really frustrating, I was so stressed initially with this it drove me crazy. I bought this phone mainly for recording and for the last year I have had to use my partners old phone for it instead. I tried everything. I sent it back for repair, tried to send videos of the issue, explained it via message and phone calls and they just recommended, updating, checking this that etc they just did not listen to me and it honestly drove me crazy and made me really angry. I felt like I was gonna break down I was so angry lol!

It really is!! Glad it's not just me though as no one seemed to believe me when I got my phone, I felt like I was going crazy

Interesting, I thought it was more of a hardware issue. Is it the stuttering you are referring to near the end? if so that's a different issue to the problems I get with my backgrounds becoming distorted with foreground movement. I may have misunderstood though

I still haven't found a solution, unfortunately.
