Cannot get updates for unlocked uk samsung galaxy s23 ultra past 6.0

Hi all

Not getting any software updates and need to have octobers security patch level to conform to my works BYOD. cant force and update and dont want to root phone using odin and trip knox. Not good for a work phone. Any explanation as to why no updates are being recieved? Is there a way to force an update without compromising security. could samsung do anything or send it in for a service?

You can try by installing samsung smartswitch to a PC system and connect phone via USB. There is a way to update the phone using this method. Although I have never needed to myself.

Usually when phones don't receive their OTA updates it is because it is being used out of region.

Are you sure it is a UK variant and being used in the UK ?

Can you check the CSC code in your softwares list in settings and Google the code to see if it brings anything to light?

Just a comment on my experience... I bought a phone brand new from a large seller in UK... but i didn't realise that they also source phones from the EU. The phone i bought was actually from Portugal. This may or may not have caused some issues... so I would double check your CSC code.

P.s. you should have received 6.1 by now if you do have an unlocked UK variant.

Not always is everything obvious.

Being a work phone I assume supplied by your IT or likewise ? Do you know where these bulk phones are sourced ? From a carrier or direct from Samsung would be a question.

Also if this is a work phone, I would contact them in the first instance and request that they look into it and resolve for you.

I am certainly not expert in these CSC issues or OTA updates not being received, but the usual issues are 'out of region' or 'carrier variant' where the supplier also need test time before releasing their version.

The fact you haven't received any security updates in more than 6 months represents a risk (especially with a work phone).

Personally I would leave it in their hands.

Maybe someone else on this forum with more knowledge will comment with a better response.

Apologies, I was not clear. It is my personal phone I wish to use in my companies BYOD to save me using two phones! However I need to be at the October patch level to comply with their standards to participate. I did some more digging, (thank you smiley for sending me down the right path.) and using 600+ Samsung CSC Codes - Complete List (2024) - Technastic I found that my phone has the code OXM which is a multi code

  1. OXM (Multi-CSC) ➡ ACR, AFG, AFR, AUT, BKD, BOG, BTB, BTE, BTU, CAU, CPW, DBT, DKR, ECT, EGY, EUX, EVR, FWD, GLB, ILO, ILP, INS, KSA, LYS, MEO, MET, MID, MM1, MOB, MOT, MSR, MWD, NPL, O2C, OPS, PKD, PLS, PRT, SEK, SER, SFR, SIM, SIN, SKZ, SLK, STH, SWC, TEL, THL, TIM, TOP, TSI, TUN, TUR, VAU, VIP, WWA, WWC, WWD, XEF, XFA, XFE, XFV, XME, XNZ, XSA, XSG, XSP

This contains BTU which is:

I am on O2 (for my sins) and so in theory I should be receiving the update following the logic. SmartSwitch does not work and I really do not want to root a non-deprecated phone I intend to use for life/work due to security implications. Thank you for your help though smiley. Appreciated.

No problem at all. Hope you manage to get it sorted. I would say though that as you have not had any updates since March 2024 that is not right... even with carrier delays and testing. Usually this will meana slight delay compared to 'vanilla' unlocked phones.

Where did you get the phone from? Smart switch doesn't work how?

I got it refurbished from giffgaff uk. I plug in smartswitch. Try to get it to force an update but nothing happens.
