I bought the S23 a week ago it works beautifully, it came with only the type c connection. I bought a usb adaptor for the type c so I can transfer photos ect. to and from my Pc. When I try to connect I only get its charging but no prompt to allow as my other samsung phones did. Going to My PC it is not showing or recogonised.

How do I get my PC to recognise the phone please.

My A33 doesn't have a 'USB' app, plugging the phone into apc doesn't give me any options of what I want the connection to do either.
It seems that just about every web site I try to find out how to do this gives me different info, which leads me to think that there is just no way to do it or they would all state the same wouldn't they?

Older versions of samsung phones had an app called 'Kies' which was fine at transferring photos and everything but it's just not possible anymore.
The only way I found if to transfer the images to the removable ssd then physically remove it and connect it ot the PC, like I said earlier, Samsung are now a joke.
I previously had a couple of Nokias, they had no problem at all connecting to the pc.

I had the same problem. My Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra suddenly stopped connecting to my PC. Only charging was available. The problem was on all my PCs regardless of whether it was Windows 10 or 11 and it started after I upgraded my phone.

As it turns out, there is one funny Korean guy at Samsung who thaught it is funny and decided with the upgrade to disable the use of most USB cables in connection with Windows PCs.

The solution is to buy a USB-c 4 or Thundeebolt 4 cable (USB-C to USB-C) and, if necessary, if you do not have a USB-C connector, add a USB-C to USB-A adapter on the computer side. This was after weeks of research and trying the only thing that worked for me, after trying every other possible solution suggested from dozens of forums.

I hope Samsung returns support for older USB cable protocols with the next upgrade.

P.S. The previous solution on this forum didnt worked.

I would love to find out who that was and get them fired.

I now have to pull my SD card out of my phone to load any significant amount of music or files onto it.

All smartphones should just act like a USB hard drive out of the box with any data transfer capable cable.

I ended up having to have a Samsung tech remote into my phone through my desktop to enable it. No idea what he actually did.
