I bought the S23 a week ago it works beautifully, it came with only the type c connection. I bought a usb adaptor for the type c so I can transfer photos ect. to and from my Pc. When I try to connect I only get its charging but no prompt to allow as my other samsung phones did. Going to My PC it is not showing or recogonised.
How do I get my PC to recognise the phone please.

I bought a type c - type a data cable that worked straight away. The cable that came with the phone from Samsung is a charge only cable not for transferring files etc..

Hi @Denise51 try to reset the settings of the USB port of your phone. To do this, go to Applications and Activate "Show system applications" by tapping the 3 lines to the right of Your Apps, select ok.
Find the USB settings app and in storage, delete the cache and data. Restart the device and see if that makes a difference.
However you may need to set a default via Developer Options? Developer Options-Default USB Configuration, Transferring Files.
If Developer options not set up Go to Settings-About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times. Will need to enter password ,Pin or Pattern at this point. See more details here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-turn-on-the-developer-options-menu-on-my-....

Thank you for the above advice James, It seems usb settings permissions are allowed, I found the developer options and made sure it is on transferring files. But sorry not made any difference.
Just wandering if the charging type c cable that comes with the phone is not designed to transfer data, as I said I had to buy a little usb a adaptor to go into my pc

@Denise51 should be ok but could obviously try another cable. An option also to use Smart Switch for PC ,see information here https://www.samsung.com/Smart Switch

It's great to hear that you're enjoying your S23! It sounds like you're having some trouble connecting it to your Windows 10 PC via USB. Sometimes, Windows can be a bit finicky with device recognition.First, make sure you have the necessary drivers installed for your S23 on your PC. You can usually find these on the Samsung website. Also, check your USB cable and the adapter to ensure they're working correctly. Sometimes, a faulty cable or adapter can cause connection issues. If all else fails, you can check out www.aka.ms/phonelinkqrc for troubleshooting tips and solutions. It might have some helpful advice for your specific situation.

I am not convinced any of this is a cable type issue. I have 2 x Samsung A13, 1 x Samsung A14 and 2 tablets. The devices purchased prior to June 2023 (A13 one of the tablets) both connect to PC and android auto using supplied cables. The A14 and one of the A13's purchased September 2023 will not connect to the PC nor the android auto no matter which cable is used (I bought a data cable from a mobile phone shop) Sometimes the A14 will not charge without swapping cables around (all are samsung cables and Samsung chargers) The later purchases keep bringing up USB errors or don't recognise the usb connected device, normally the charger. The A13 has a permanenet USB error. Cleaning the ports has no effect whatsoever. I am pretty close to ebaying my entire samsung collection as I bought a cheap Nokia smartphone which connect to both the PC and the car regardless of cable type.

It's not possible, or if it is then Samssung make it as difficult as possible. I tried the microsoft app but it wouldn't do it, so I contated support and they suggested using 'smart things', which I did but it took ages to connect sso I then selected transfer images, the app then said it was transferring data but it didn't say which data or where it was going.
It then took several more minutes to 'organise' the data after which time I'm told it has 'restored' 8.95gb of data to the phone - from where?
At np point did it show any connection to the PC.
It's just a joke, the phone mau be good and the camera may be good but connecting it to a pc is just a impossible.
LAST TIME I EVER BUY A SAMSUNG PHONE!
After about 10 minutes I was told data transfer was complete nbut there was nothing on my pc
