Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with camera not taking pictures of white items without putting a tint on them?

I have just took a picture of a blank page below which shows a blue tint over the image

This causes problems when printing off especially in mono as what should be white is printed off gray or black? Quite a nuisance if the image is a label

Thanks for the input.
So you mention it happens in the car.
Do you think it's maybe something in the car maybe like a tinted windshield that's messing the photos?
Also do you have a filter by chance used on your phone? It's the brush icon on top right.

Also is your flash set to auto or ON?

I don't have any active filters. I think it's likely the bright sunlight picks up colour from the tint in the windows or could bounce from the leather seats in the car which you can't see with the eye but the camera sensors may pick up or get confused and compensate, In other environments indoors eg in the house or in supermarkets it can pick up a browny yellow hue or light gray hue which can discolour white paper in the picture. You can actually see the filter switch on and off if you move the phone backwards and forwards or change angles, also switching the flash on corrects the colour but can sometimes obscure detail on the image where it has a reflective coating. I don't fully understand camera settings so I usually rely on default settings but I suspect there may be a setting that might help counter this i.e autofocus or macro settings but I'm no camera buff. I think it's a software issue as the phone takes great photos e.g outside but seems to struggle with close ups indoors especially if a reflective surface as it's hard to use the flash

Try turning scene optimiser off and see.

Thank you I'll give it a try. I have also noticed in camera assistant settings Auto HDR is set to on I'm wondering if that could do something? Thank you

No hdr should have no effect besides brightening the shadows.

Whilst it's a sunny day I have decided to try a couple of alternative pictures in the car of a pure white page with a water mark the first 2 are with optimiser enabled the second 2 are with image optimiser disabled. The ones with the deep blue hue are taken at about 12 to 14 inches away, the lighter ones are from around 36 inches away. It seems that disabling the optimiser makes a small improvement but the biggest improvement comes from moving the camera away from the object. The problem here may be if there is small detail or text which can sometimes be lost when at distance indoors. I'll try one with flash next to see if that cures it.20230407_133938_1000009171_1680871200.jpg20230407_133904_1000009170_1680871166.jpg20230407_130507_1000009163_1680869129.jpg20230407_130433_1000009162_1680869096.jpg

The next 4 are with flash set to on. First 2 optimiser enabled 2nd 2 optimiser disabled. It seems using the flash at distance gets the correct background colour but you lose the watermark image from the page. Hopefully someone may have some tips for doing close ups with detail e.g equipment ID tags, and shopping receipts20230407_135028_1000009175_1680871879.jpg20230407_134953_1000009174_1680871814.jpg20230407_134900_1000009173_1680871769.jpg20230407_134823_1000009172_1680871725.jpg

Have you sorted it out now? I've just bought my S23U less than a month ago. No problems with colours coming out right. I got the last big update, virtually as soon as I fired up the phone from new.

Hi. I haven't checked taking photos in car when sunny outside again to check for the blue but I think it is due to the sensors picking up traces of tint from the glass in the sunlight so gives a tint in the image. I still get the yellowy or greyish hue when taking closeup pictures in artificial light indoors e.g if photographing shopping receipts or product labels on devices and detail can be difficult i.e text pixelates if zooming in. I think it is the auto correct features in the camera software that get confused or are picking up colours from nearby reflections, which interfere with the shot. A workaround that usually works or improves the image is moving the phone away from the subject or waiting a few seconds to let the phone focus properly for detail. Also changing angle can help

Good morning Paul. Like you mentioned, it must be caused by your blue tinted glass. I've taken a lot of pictures of reciepts lately. I too take them in the car (before they get to crumpled!). I've no skylight, so noticed that my pictures have come out perfect. I do have Scene Optimiser and Shot Suggestions turned off. 👍🏻
