I've just noticed that my camera makes a clicking noise when the camera app is launched. I have never noticed this before. Is this normal? It also makes a clicking noise when changing between the different camera modes.

Hi @KillerKam

I haven't noticed any clicking sounds on my phone on launching the app.

Have a look through the camera settings via the cog option.

If you can't see anything and your using the Samsung Camera App then perhaps start by clearing the camera apps cache via Settings > Apps > Camera > Storage > Clear Cache.

A last resort would be to clear Data in that section.

Let us know if that helps.

To add one explanation via a Google Search is.....

Clicking noise from Galaxy S10 is normal or expected

Despite several complaints from users, Samsung says the clicking noise from the Galaxy S10 is normal. The sound actually comes from the camera adjusting its aperture.

“This sound is normal. It’s likely the aperature [sic] of the adjustable lens adjusting for the current light in the shot,” Samsung Care Ambassador VerbumVeritum said on the company’s forums.

One Reddit user explained what’s happening further, saying, “If you take a look at the main (middle) camera lens while opening the camera app, you’ll actually SEE what’s making the sound. It’s the adjustable aperture moving.” "

And a similar thread from the Samsung Community Forum on the same lines > https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s10-series/s10-clicking-sound-when-opening-camera-app.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

You can stop camera sounds by setting System Sounds volume to zero.

Normal, it's the OIS system activating (when the camera isn't in use the lens can move freely, when you turn on the camera the lens 'snaps' to its central position ready to do it's optical stabilization).
