Battery died (100% to 5%) in 5 hours after S23 Ultra UI 6 update (Dec 2023)

The update was pushed a few days ago, but I put off installing it until this morning.  My phone charged overnight and was at 98% when I started the update.

I am a light user and my phone could easily go 36 hours or so between charges so today I would have expected my phone battery to indicate between 60% and 70% charge remaining.  However, 5 hours later, I (by fluke) found my battery to be at 5% and I had to scramble to find a charge cable at work to plug it in (to a low wattage charger at that).  There was enough charge to allow me to use 2 factor to log in through my desktop, but I am blown away with how fast my phone just died.  

Is there a known issue with this?   Did Samsung just dump a backdoor that is killing batteries unintentionally?  There is no reason the battery should be dying unless there are active sensors or devices running in the background.  What is going on?

Is this the first time it's happened? If so simply restart the phone charge it up and it should be absolutely fine. If this is not the case come back here for further steps. Some of my previous phones iphone & samsung have done this once or twice in the past and even this one did a heavyish drain one night. Sometimes phones just develop bugs and need to be rebooted they are just mini computers after all

Mine on my S22ultra is worse since the update too, don't know what Samsung is doing bit it's wrecking our phone. Maybe it's they way to tell us to upgrade!! on your dead body Sammy

Did you wipe partion cache after updates?

Same here on my S22U, and WiFi is a no go for on multiple routers so costing me with mobile data
