I personally recommend avoiding the S23 ultra and going for a different device. The screen scratches way too easily for a premium device that its a joke.

Been someones who's enjoyed samsung products until now. Contemplating a move to an IPhone with Samsung's drop in build quality

A device will not scratch based purely on its age.

Saying that you had an old Note Ultra that didn't scratch until at least a year is (in my honest opinion) rubbish. As @-Robot said elsewhere, for a screen to scratch it must come into contact with something. Elementary physics.

Therefore the scratches would happen in your circumstances both in the first few weeks and in a year plus. The age is irrelevant.

I take the view you are expecting Samsung to take the blame for your failure to look after your device.

If that was the case, with millions sold, it would be widely reported on here. It isn't.......

A phone in your pocket without a case will come into contact with all sorts of things. When you bump into things such as takes, chairs, car doors to name a few. Zips and other metallic objects. People bump into you, what is in their pocket or hands? The list is endless.....

A mobile phone deserves a case. Protect your investment. You spent over £1000 so why wouldn't you spend a few pounds on a case

Sorry but this feels to me like user error.

I am as clumsy as the next man and I too have dropped mine a few times and like you wouldnt have never have known

And when I say clumsy, I once dropped my phone 3 times in one year and had it replaced by Samsung at cost, I could have brought a new one with the cost I spent but it was my fault and wanted to it in warranty and only Samsung can do that

My situation is the opposite. I tru to be quite careful with all my phones. Hence why my note 20 ultra stayed pretty scratch free for a long time. This could also be down to it having a better glass for the screen

It is disappointing to see samsung take a step back in development. As seeing people with IPhone 14s with no scratches.

I could understand the scratches if I had brought something in the A galaxy range but not the S series

I don't think you're going to get much empathy on here.

If you want to go iPhone, feel free, then you'll see what a weak screen feels like especially if you don't pop it in a case

I think you need to research more.

There are many out there with issues with iPhone screens including the 14.

The S23U has some of the strongest components out there. As I said above, if this was an issue we would have seen many posts about it. We haven't. Says it all.

Honestly its an amazing device apart from this one issue.

I do wonder if if due to the change in material on the screen to victus 2.

Though i read somewhere that GG says otherwise.

I see what your saying but its the same eberywhere. Yes the ultra does scratch reasonably easy but so does everything else and the new 15 Pro scratches even worse. Also with apple at the moment the bugs are very serious iPhone turning off in the night alarms not going off. I had a 14 Pro max and although it was a nice phone it was buggy. The s23 ultra has been a solid phone and it's had next to no bugs and to me is the best phone in the world right now. Go ahead and get an iPhone if you wish but you will regret it. Yes the ultra scratches easily and is a delicate phone but so is everything else. I have moaned about durability however since my marks came there hasn't been anymore so was just hard luck.

Think I'll see how I go for now then. Hopefully they don't get any worse
