Anyone else notice 'Add Portrait Effect' has got worse since recent updates?

This used to work really well on almost any photo in Gallery, even photos that didn't have a face in them. I could add a background blur to all kinds of things. This was really useful for lots of reasons e.g. preparing photos for selling items online.

Now, even if the face isn't directly looking towards camera it fails to add portrait effect.

I'm seeing the error "Can't add portrait effect. No faces recognised" a lot more frequently than I used to.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes it been there under gallery are you referring to that

Yeah, that's where I do it. I used to find it worked on all kinds of photos now it's really fussy about which one it will apply the effect to. It now feels inferior to before.

Yes only certain pictures it works I'm afraid either peiple or a certain type of photo depends on object captured

Yeah, and that was my point, it used to work a lot better. Now if refuses to do many shots it used to. I even took an old photo I applied the blur to, a few months ago, and tried to do the blur again. It refused

Try clear cache of camera app and gallery app. Sometimes cache can be the culprit. Btw whenever you use camera do I lose % afterctaking several photos

I too have noticed this, just made a post about it myself. Definitely a downgrade I hope it's just a bug and not removed on purpose.

Thank you I replied on your thread too. Like you I really hope it's fixed, I cannot imagine why they'd do this deliberately.

Same. My portrait option is completely gone after I updated to the newest version
