Samsung forced an update on my phone and it changed all of the settings, including making my background black, and won't let me change them back; the options are dithered/not accepting the choice. I have restarted multiple times. Notifications are also hidden...have to dig down 3 or 4 levels to see them when I want them right where they were before this rotten update. This is ridiculous. Phone was working fine I didn't need my interface updated to what Samsung seems to think I want. Badly done and now I am stuck.
If anyone has some suggestions please advise. Thank you

Long press on empty space on your home screen. Choose Themes, that will open Theme Store, choose My staff, apply Original (default) theme. That will reset all your bad customization. Now, turn off phone. Plug in it with usb-c cable in comp, or other Samsung phone, or tablet. Wait that charging animation gone, then hold and press in same time power and volume-up button. When you see Samsung android logo release buttons. Recovery mode will appear. Scroll down with volume button to wipe cache partition. Choose yes and confirm with power button. After that turn on your phone with power button.

I hate the update. I guess the best option is toss android to the curb and go apple.

If you had done this before the update (set the default original theme), you wouldn't have any problems now.
But even now, it's a minute's work, nothing difficult, and it's useful to wipe the cache partition after every update, especially a software upgrade.

My girlfriend has the S23 Ultra and the update was pushed this morning. Since it’s been completed the screen will turn on but won’t respond to anything. We tried the pen but that was no good either. The only thing we can do is soft reset but that’s gotten us nowhere.

No, you bought an S23 with OneUI 5 with default settings, you personalized it (because that's the beauty of Android), you got all the other upgrades, and OneUI 7 for free, but you still had to press the download button for that. Where would Samsung end up having to calculate with countless personalization options, that's absolute nonsense to expect from anyone, Samsung upgrades to the original software versions. If you wanted a phone without personalization options, where you don't have to do anything but download the upgrade, the iPhone is just that phone. Android is something completely different, especially Samsung's OneUI

I completely agree! As I am typing this, there are apps being pulled up that I am having to cancel out of and my phone is all over the place(it pulls up previous websites I've visited, Facebook, email, etc) and I'm having to cancel put of them just to come back here to type this. It's completely ridiculous. Also, my phoen can be sitting here(with the main screen on), and it will just go berserk, pulling up websites then canceling out of them and pulling up other apps. When I get on Facebook and try to post something, I hit the post button and it doesn't do anything, it's like it's blocked out. They need to fix whatever they did cause I cannot use this phone anymore...thebupdate won't let me use it, to me this new AI has taken over and is using it!

Side same and my phone keeps randomly saying I need to insert a Sim card now. I have a Sim card... the same one that was in before the update. I never thought I'd want an iPhone, but this is the last straw. I've been loyal to Samsung for 10 years, but this update has been the worst!!!!!!
