Will Samsung include Aptx HD/Adaptive on new updates??

Many people are not pleased with the fact that Samsung phones won't support Aptx Adaptive, which means many earbuds/headphones (like Sennheiser momentum 4) won't display their full potential over bluetooth.

The only solution now is getting an external dongle like BTD600 or BT-W5, or listening to music wired, which besides increasing the costs, it also defies the whole purpose of getting bluetooth products: comfort.

This situation is worsened if we consider:

  • Not even flagship phones have it, even costing $1.500. But other brands have it on way cheaper phones.
  • Qualcomm open sourced the codecs, so there's no major cost of implementation asocciated.
  • Samsung already includes LDAC (Sony's hi-res codec) and their own hi-res codec for Samsung earbuds (SSC).
  • Aptx standard is available (10+ years old).

This might not be that noticeable for most users, but there's a growing community of audio enthusiasts who will find this a deal breaker. Mostly because it has a noticeable impact on the audio experience and it makes no sense other than Samsung trying to force on us their peripherals over the competition.

I've been a Samsung user for many years, but for the first time I'm considering switching brand.

Hi, it's linked to the chipset, and Samsung are keen to push their own codec, plus Android.

Sony LDAC can be used, with Sony buds and tweaking the developer settings.

All that said, don't get too stressed, I am a critical audiophile and even with a ZFLIP6 6.1.1 giving 32/96 barely audible.

Agree manufacturers need to consider Ultra fussy Audiophiles but to be honest your best sticking to wired and a USB DAC for that last 10%.

That's right brother, I have also been using Samsung for 5 years. Now when I think about updating the model, I am looking at other companies..

Looks like my next phone will be a Xiaomi. Sorry Samsung. Acting too much like Apple now.

Night and day difference with regular vs high definition aptX. I use a 1Mii SPDIF transmitter with my TV, and even with only 16 bit input, the sound is almost as good as wired.

You know what else? I bought the official Samsung USB C to 3.5mm dongle about a year or two ago.

Out of the box it was defective. Not fit for purpose. There was an annoying whining sound, and a static sound, especially when listening at low volumes.

I expected high quality sound from this, to make up for the fact that some ***** at Samsung decided follow Apple in ditching the 3.5mm jack. What I got was *****. My old S7 with 3.5mm sounds better.

It also didn't work with the UHQ Upscaler so I doubt it is even 192/24 as claimed. I would've been better off getting one of those cheap dongles off Aliexpress, at least they have Cirrus Logic chips.

I was told to send feedback about this using the Samsung members app. Never replied. Got deleted after a year.

Why do they censor the word id!0t? Some I'd!0t at Samsung decided to get rid of analog and 3.5mm. The native signal of headphone drivers.
