My Verizon S22 updated today, One UI version 7.0, Android version 15, and now there are several things that apparently Samsung did to infuriate it's user base. Of course, this is not surprising to me, considering I paid $5000+ for a Samsung branded refrigerator that has a screen in it only for it to be rendered basically useless 5 years later, but I digress...
Does anyone know how to make this S22 look like it used to? Now on my lock screen, the clock is displaying only the hour, and then on a new line, under the hour, it shows the minutes of the hour.
Oh, and now I have to scroll through the apps list to find the settings app, instead of simply pressing the gear icon from the quick panel swipedown. Also, my carefully culled swipedown menus have disappeared - I no longer have instant toggles for things such as Airplane Mode, Bluetooth on/off, Wifi on/off, nor custom integrations such as SmartThings devices, etc.
It's like Samsung hired someone with an IQ of 60 to design this user interface for their latest version. Again, this doesn't surprise me, and will certainly be the last Samsung device I ever own, but it would be nice if someone from Samsung could tell us all how to overcome these latest "features".
Solved! Go to Solution.

This is analogous to starting your car and discovering all the controls are in a different place and appearing totally different. Once again, Samsung proves their ignorance of their customer's needs and wishes. Time to return to a US-designed platform and be rid of this junk.

You do realize that a lot of the changes are due to Android 15, Google.
To me, yes, I hardly noticed a difference. I would argue that my "blindness" is simply competence and willingness to handle minor changes—the quick menu can be set to exactly how it was; actually explore your device. It's literally three clicks to change it back. Reality is, change happens.
A smart designer knows change is necessary, or again- people moan.....
Non sequitur.
Again, tell me why it HAS to be different if the option is available for it to appear just like it used to be. The fact that it can be made to function exactly as it used to, and look exactly as it used to nullifies your argument that a smart designer knows that change is necessary. It actually proves my original argument on this subject; nothing needed to be changed.
The choice was there to the designer to either make the differences the default - but with the ability to select the original behavior optional, or to make the way it used to be the default - but with the ability to change the appearance and behavior optional.
And if these designers are in fact "smart", that only leaves one obvious fact: they just did it this way to be jerks or ask holes or something like that.
No matter - the contract has long been over on this thing, and it is time to move on. This was the last straw of a long line of factual, repeatedly proven Samsung fails to which their fanbois will never admit.
Good luck with that.

Oh, and yep... more of Samsung's smart design:
Clicking the "Click here to unsubscribe" link from the email this forum sends me puts me straight to this:

Just one more example of Samsung's smart designers doing smart designing for sure.

I second this. It looks hideous. The camera, settings, and other icons look horrible. I just want it back the way it was. Under settings I can't find anything anymore.

I'm so annoyed by the latest update that I'm going back to an iPhone when I upgrade in a couple months

Why do we get offered options before something that looks so different, makes stuff harder to find etc is imposed. Really not happy

Hi All, I can't believe my S22+ is ruined after the One UI 7.0 upgrade...
My phone goes constantly in a boot loop several times a day for 10-15 times.
I can hardly believe that after all the waiting for this upgrade, you guys push this buggy upgrade..
Shame, shame...
I am an Android fan and believed that Samsung would provide better/the best experience.
Tell me what's wrong here?!

I have had a samsung galaxy device consistently since the Galaxy S3. But this update is so bad I think I may finally switch to a Pixel or other device. Also, it feels like a copy of iOS.
Largest complaint: I use multiple media apps depending on my listening mood. Sometimes I use samsung music for offline music. Sometimes I use soundcloud, and sometimes I use spotify. Previously, no matter which music app I used, I had the Samsung Media Player widget on my lock screen which had controls for play/pause, skip track, restart track, a slider for the progress through the song/podcast, and the song/podcast info. Now, I have this trash "now bar" which has all these tiny buttons close together and has less functionality. The only "workaround" is for me to install lockstar and clutter my lock screen with multiple widgets for every music app I use, and it's still reduced functionality compared to before. I mean who thought this regression in functionality was a good idea? If I'm running and I want to be able to fast forward through a song I can no longer do it easily from the lock screen I have to stop my motion in order to hit the tiny button on the now bar to expand the now bar and do it. And then if I expand the now bar and I decide I actually just need to go to the spotify app I can't. With the old media player widget clicking the widget would take me directly to the app. There's tons of complaints across the samsung / android / subreddits about this. I really hope this is reverted with an update otherwise I think I'm gone.
edit: I have discovered I can click on a small portion of the expanded now bar widget and it will take me to spotify directly. But it's still a smaller area than before and with an extra step. That's a downgrade.
