WhatsApp not backing up to Google Photos

Hi Folks

I'm looking for any advice relating to backing up WhatsApp photos and videos to Google Photos. It was OK but now has stopped for some reason(s). I've followed all the advice from the web and there is sufficient storage space on Google Photos so I'm really at a loss as to why back up is no longer happening. 

Any help from any gurus out there would be great.

@MGMaestro: This needs to be toggled on in your Google Photos settings. With this in mind, please open Google Photos > Tap your profile in the top right > Photos Settings > Backup and sync > Back up device folders > Toggle on the relevant WhatsApp folders from here.

@MGMaestro: Are you connected to a Wi-Fi network? If so, head back to Google Photos > Tap your profile in the top right > Photos settings > Backup and sync, and make sure that 'Back up and sync' is toggled on at the top of the screen. Furthermore, swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom, then again to enlarge the Quick Panel, and tap on 'Sync' so it highlights.

Hi again Andrew. You may have solved it as the Sync button wasn't activated! Let's see what happens now - I'll let you know but I'm off out for the rest of today . . .

So, WhatsApp still not backing up to Google Photos. I use a Nikon App called Snapbridge that downloads photos taken on an SLR camera to my phone. I have it set up to be backed up/synced with Google Photos and it is fine. This would seem to suggest it's a problem with WhatsApp or its settings.

Just when I was about to contact WhatsApp photos and videos started to back up!
Great that problem solved but a bit frustrating not knowing what the issue was.
