Whatsapp contacts issue

Hi all. When using Google assistant via Android Auto to send a WhatsApp message, Google Assistant can no longer recognise my WhatsApp contacts.
I have followed all the available help which all eventually lead to "if no success, contacts your phone manufacturer "
Anyone else had this issue and were you able to resolve??

Options

Yes.  The fix for this... go into your contacts, settings menu and click about contacts, the version will come up, touch the screen as in tap it by the word contacts, maybe 9 or 10 times quickly in succession and a hidden menu shows.  WhatsApp, messenger and meet was in there for me.  Toggle them on, then Google will find them xx
