unsure about updates

unsure about updates, entering search to find find my phone and going to the section find my phone I am presented with a message insisting an update is required

Google play system update needed

looking at listed updates
security update  October 2023
Google play system 1 May 2023

as i was withing the system I attempted the update, security worked but google play failed

Now im considering that this should have been available in updates and google play itselve

I have screen captures if required

anyone any deas

Usually if an updaye is pushed to you from within the phone's settings its a safe update to action. 

An update can fail for various reasons. 

Perhaps try updating over Wi-Fi or Mobile Data.
